As an AI Engineer, you will work on solutions that directly become part of our platforms MySOMI, CUSEA, and the processes across the SOMI Group — from intelligent workflows and AI agents to automation, as well as new AI-powered features and services.

This is not just about connecting existing models via an API. You will design and build solutions end-to-end: understanding existing systems and codebases, developing backend services and integrations, bringing AI workflows reliably into production, and getting to the root of problems even when the underlying cause is not immediately apparent in the source code.

• You will develop and integrate AI-powered features and services while actively shaping the technical evolution of our platform.

• You design and implement AI workflows, agents, and automations, turning them into stable, secure, and production-ready solutions.
• You develop and operate backend services, REST APIs, and interfaces through which AI models, as well as internal and external services, are integrated into our system landscape.
• You don’t just work on greenfield projects: you continuously develop and maintain existing and established codebases, analyze issues, perform refactorings, and sustainably improve applications in terms of quality, maintainability, and stability.
• You approach technical problems systematically and holistically. Depending on the issue, you analyze not only the source code but also APIs, databases, servers, logs, networks, web servers, DNS, and other involved system components.
• You work with applications throughout their entire technical lifecycle — from development and deployment to integration and production operations — using Git, CI/CD processes, and containerized applications.
• You work AI-native: you use AI coding tools and coding agents not only to generate individual code snippets, but also deliberately for codebase analysis, more complex development tasks, debugging, refactoring, and testing. You do not adopt AI-generated solutions without scrutiny; instead, you critically validate them for technical quality, security, architecture, and production readiness.

• You have several years of hands-on experience in software development, with a strong background in backend development in particular.

• You are proficient in at least one programming language relevant to modern backend and AI applications, such as JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, PHP, Java, or a comparable technology.
• You have experience working with existing and established codebases and are comfortable with refactoring, debugging, and systematic error and root-cause analysis.
• Developing and extending REST APIs, as well as integrating internal and external services, is part of your everyday development work.
• You have practical experience with relational databases such as MySQL, MariaDB, or PostgreSQL and are able to trace data flows and dependencies across multiple systems.
• You are confident working with Git and deployment processes and have a solid understanding of CI/CD and containerized applications, such as Docker or Kubernetes.
• You have a strong understanding of software architecture and systems and are able to look at the interaction between frontend, web server, API, backend, database, infrastructure, and external services from a holistic perspective.
• AI-native development is already part of your everyday practice. You regularly work with AI coding tools or coding agents and use them effectively for more complex development tasks, codebase analysis, debugging, refactoring, and testing.
• You want to truly understand technical problems rather than simply fix their symptoms, and you are willing to look beyond the boundaries of your immediate area of expertise when investigating root causes.
